I have discovered the key to enjoying a Russell T Davies script.

And it is:

Inebriation.

Read no further, lest ye be spoilered.

Having seen the preview, my original guess was that Morressy was going to turn out to be a conman, and Rosita would die in his arms at the end, causing him to turn over a new leaf. That was completely wrong.

I am kinda sad that Morressy didn't turn out to be a future Doctor, because he was brilliant. Can we keep him anyway?

The Cybermen seemed to be written more like their classic series selves. I approve.

The Cyberking sequence was great. I'm almost surprised they could afford that.

Seeing the clips of the original Doctors = BRILLIANT. McGann is canon, oh yes!

Roll on Easter or whenever the next special is playing.

I found myself strangely disappointed that the Cybermen let Ms. Hartigan keep her hair.

To be fair, McGann's been canon since "Human Nature". And I was also disapponted that they didn't take the "other Doctors" opportunity to give us a teaser for the upcoming 11th Doctor. I guess they might not have been able to show his face, but oh well.

If that had happened, I suppose I couldn't be angered at being spoilered by the show itself.

Ah, but some people were apparently claiming that the picture in Human Nature might not be McGann. This cements it, I think. :)

Not sure if anyone's been actually cast for 11 at this point...

Wow, really? Who were they claiming it was? "Oh, that's just a sketch of 8 of the Doctor's 9 previous bodies, but with a guy he met on the HMS Hornblower in place of his eighth body, who looked nothing like Paul McGann."

Every time I think fandom can't delude itself any more, it proves me wrong. Oh well.

Someone may have been cast, but I'm pretty sure no one's been announced for #11.

I found I enjoyed it more while drunk, yes. That always helps.

I have no problem with McGann being canon. But that 1996 tv Whovie IS NOT canon. :-P

It's a shame they didn't do the clips of the original Doctors in season 1.

I knew when I saw the preview that Morrissey wasn't a future Doctor, the instant that both shouted, "Allons-y!" He had to be someone impersonating, or believing he was, this incarnation.

Yeah, I'd actually figure beforehand that he was going to turn out to be a con-man pretending to be the Doctor (but it turns out they went Minuet in Hell rather than The One Doctor :)
