A while back I made mention of wanting to get Hughes de Courson's Lux Obscura, and I ordered it online a week or so ago. It was a good album. A really good album.

Unfortunately it also had copy protection on it (something which wasn't mentioned on the web site I ordered it from) and the errors the manufacturer had inserted into the data manifested as irregular ticks or crackles no matter what I played it on. Lux Obscura therefore gains the distinction of being the first CD I've returned due to copy protection.

Alas. :(

Might I suggest - in the unlikely event that you haven't done this already - contacting the artist directly and letting them know of this problem? While I'm sure many artists have somewhat valid concerns about piracy, I'm also sure many would be rather alarmed and upset that their music can't be heard.

The recording industry needs... well, people with vision. Or visions, possibly.

While that would be nice to be able to do, I suspect most artists are only reachable via their music company... :)
