Basics (II): With Voyager in the hands of the Kazon, the crew attempt to survive on a barren world.
When we last left Voyager, the Kazon had taken over the ship, depositing the crew on a nearby planet. The only Federation representatives left aboard Voyager were the HoloDoc (who didn't have much choice, really) and Sudor from Mind Meld.
The planet looks suspiciously Earth-like.
Neelix finds bones and promptly decides they should be kept. Neelix is slightly creepy sometimes. Unfortunately the crewman he asks to gather them up promptly gets eaten by something that pops out of the cave.
Meanwhile Paris's shuttle is badly damaged, but he still manages to destroy a Kazon patrol ship.
Janeway is resorting to eating bugs now. Yay!
HoloDoc says Seska's baby is actually half Cardassian/half Kazon and not Chakotay's bebby at all. "I'm a doctor, not a counter-insurgent!" How's he going to employ guerrilla tactics when he's confined to sickbay? And why didn't the Kazon ask the computer if all the starfleet people were off the ship? It happily tells HoloDoc Sudor is roaming the ship. Sheesh.
Tuvok is making bows and arrows. Groovy.
Chaktoy: "Trapped on a barren planet, and you're stuck with the only Indian in the universe who can't start a fire by rubbing two sticks together" Ha!
Paris makes contact with some Talaxians.
Neelix and Kes are captured by primitive Kazon. Note - primitive Kazon appear to have better hair-care than the advanced ones. Chakotay discovers that communicating with Kazon is hard without the universal translator. I guess that means Kes and Neelix learned English, cause they're still speaking it.
Thuron particles neutralise tricorders, apparently.
B'Elanna was on the track-and-field team at the acadamy.
Chakotay rescues a young Kazon from a lava flow and suddenly they're all friends. Awww.
Paris mounts a lone attack on Voyager in his shuttle while Sudor takes out every Kazon in Engineering. Gee, the Kazons gave up easily.
End result: Sudor dead, Seska dead, Voyager back in the hands of its crew.
