False Profits: Voyager stumbles on an unstable wormhole which may lead to the Alpha Quadrant.
Oh no, it's the Ferengi episode.
Chakoay and Paris beam down to the planet in disguise as natice. Luckily the natives look identical to humans. Not even forehead bumps. I feel cheated. The Ferengi have converted the population to capitalism.
Ah, the Ferengi way - Greed is good. Janeway and co are disgusted, of course. Tuvok points out that the Ferengi aren't part of the Federation and not subject to the Prime Directive, but Janeway feels the Federation is partly responsible for them being there, so they should put things right.
Ferengi = pure irritation. They make Neelix look good.
Janeway beams them up, but they talk her into beaming them down again, pointing out the disappearance of the people's gods is likely to have a detrimental effect on the populice.
GAH! Neelix made up to look like a Ferengi! Wrong! Bad! They briefed him well, apparently. He tells the Ferengi that the Grand Nagus wants to appropriate their holdings. The Ferengi decide to kill him, whereapon Neelix spills that it's all a trick. Twat.
Fortunately the prophecy turns out to have an ending where the sages sod off back to the stars, so Chakoty, Paris and Neelix decide to invoke it. The "on wings of fire" part might cause some problems though.
The Ferengi elude security and escape in their shuttle. Unfortunately the graviton pulse they use to evade Voyager's transporters throws the wormhole out of whack. Don't ya just hate when that happens?
