Prime TV begins broadcasting the new Doctor Who series here on the 7th of July at 7:30pm... It's on opposite Coronation Street, which is regularly and consistantly the highest-rating TV program on New Zealand television. TVNZ lives in fear that one day millions of Coronation Street fans will march on them every time the show is moved in the schedule. Prime must be confident that Doctor Who is going to do well if they're putting it in that time slot...

I've also bought tickets for Inside the TARDIS - only five episodes will have played by then and the ticket price is quite high for such a niche event, so it'll be interesting to see how much of an audience there is...

The CBC has the rights to both over here, so they just put Doctor Who on right after Coronation Street. It seems to work out for them both. ^^ Maybe some people just need a Brit fix. If I didn't find soap operas so completely annoying, I'd probably be watching both.

Prime tried to get the rights to Coronation Street earlier in the year and failed... Probably would have annoyed a lot of people, as Prime isn't as widely received as TV1!
