It keeps sorta going slightly dim. It's only just noticeable, so I thought I was imagining things for a while... Guess it's time to ditch the ol' cathode ray tube and get me an LCD jobbie.

Hmm, what is this "contrast ratio"?

higher contrast ratio = better picture/greater range of colour shades.

mine are 800:1, which is pretty good for the size monitor i have (19", non-widescreen)

Also consider the thing that's measured in ms. I forget what it is or does, but again, the higher the better.

Ah, the monitors I was looking at all had a 2ms or 5ms response. I was guessing that that was something to do with the time that it took the pixels to switch between colours or something?
